Eight Choirs sang together for Christmas celebration

The Faculty of Theology of Aristotle University in Thessaloniki held an event on Byzantine Christmas Hymns. Eight Byzantine Choirs participated in the event called “Let us Celebrate People…” which was dedicated to the approaching days. It was organised by the Christian Worship and Culture Workshop (also known as ChrWorCul) under the aegis of the Faculty of Theology of Aristotle University.

The Chair of the Faculty of Theology, Professor Panagiotis Skaltsis, said that the event was not only a meeting of Choirs but also a meeting of hearts.

In particular, the Choir of the Faculty of Theology ‘Oi Tris Ierarches’ (The Three Hierarchs) under the direction of Konstantinos Skyftas, the Choir ‘Byzantino Analogio Kalamarias’ (Byzantine Lectern of Kalamaria) under the direction of Antonios Petropoulos, the Choir of Byzantine Music of the Metropolis of Thessaloniki under the direction of Christos Chalkias, the Choir ‘Apostolos Pavlos’ (Paul the Apostle) of the Metropolis of Lagadas under the direction of Giorgos Ferentinos, the Choir ‘Kalofonia’ under the direction of Petros Papaemmanouil, the Choir ‘Ergastiri Ekklisiastikis Mousikis’ (Church Music Workshop) under the direction of Vasileios Vasileiou, the Choir ‘Ergastiri Parasimantikis’ (Byzantine Music Notation Workshop) under the direction of Sotirios Despotis, and the Choir ‘Thessalonikeis Imnodoi’ (Chanters of Thessaloniki) attended the event.
