Ecumenical Patriarch: We thank the Lord for the autocephaly of the Church of Ukraine

On the afternoon of November 29, 2019, the Association of Constantinopolitan Friends of Music performed at the Sismanoglio Mansion, in the presence of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria, the delegation of the Holy See at the Thronal Feast of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, led by Cardinal Kurt Koch, and many Hierarchs.

As part of the celebrations on the Thronal Feast of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, a music event was organized by the Consulate General of Greece in Constantinople. The historical Choir of the Association of Constantinopolitan Friends of Music performed for one hour, singing hymns dedicated to St. Andrew the Apostle and Christmas.

At the end of the event, the Ecumenical Patriarch expressed his appreciation for the successful performance of the Choir of the Association of Constantinopolitan Friends of Music and congratulated Archdeacon Theodoros, Association’s President Georgios Bakopoulos and the members of the choir for this unique musical feast.

In his brief address, the Ecumenical Patriarch thanked the Lord for all the gifts He has given to the Mother Church of Constantinople this year, “for the historical autocephaly granted to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, and we express our gratitude to the Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa for recognizing the new Church.”
