Ecumenical Patriarch: Do not put countries’ financial interests above peoples’ interests

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew attended the Davos World Economic Forum and spoke at a session on ecological problems and climate change on Tuesday, January 21, 2020.

In his speech, the Ecumenical Patriarch called on the world leaders, many of whom attend the World Economic Forum in Davos these days, not to put the financial interests of their countries above the real interests of peoples, which are associated with the protection of our planet and with global warming, the consequence of which are the extreme weather conditions, wildfires, floods, and many others.

The Ecumenical Patriarch also called on them to respect the international environmental agreements, which are mutually agreed for the benefit of all humankind.
