Death toll from Sri Lanka Easter bomb attacks rises to 359

The death toll from suicide bomb attacks on churches and luxury hotels on Catholic Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka has risen to 359, the police said.

The previous report spoke about 320 deaths, but the additional deaths were the result of the wounded dying of their injuries. At least 500 people were injured when these attacks on the island took place, which are considered to be among the deadliest since the September 11, 2001 attacks.

The jihadist group, Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for Sunday’s attacks, even though the authorities are putting the blame on a local Islamist group.
