Church dedication feast of the Piva Monastery

Diocese of Budimlje and Nikšić

Bishop Joanikije: “The Holy Mother of God is the first witness of God’s gifts, because the Lord granted us a new life, resurrection and grace to become participants in His victory over death.”

By the Holy Hierarcal Liturgy, which was celebrated by Bishop Joanikije of Budva-Niksic, by blessing of the feast loaf and the appropriate program, the Piva Monastery marked its church dedication feast – the Dormition of the Mother of God.

Bishop Joanikije pointed out that the Holy Mother of God spent the last days of her life in fasting and prayer, preparing for her high ministry.

The host of this year celebration was Mr. Mijusko Bajagic, president of the Municipality of Pluzine, and a bequest for the next year’s feast was given to Mr. Milovan Golubovic.

A spiritual academy was performed in the monastery’s church-yard. Bishop Joanikije handed in the highest decoration of the Diocese of Budva-Niksic – order of the Holy Great Martyr and the Victorious George of the I degree to academician Jovan Delic for “his immeasurable contribution to the cultural renewal of the Diocese of Budva-Niksic” .
