California warmly welcomes Archbishop Elpidophoros

Greek Orthodox Youth, known as YAL, warmly welcomed Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, to their Conference convened in Long Beach, California, hosted by Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco.

Hundreds of young people, aged 18 to 35, from 22 states of America, participated representing the Archdiocese. The subject of the Conference is entitled “Proclaim”.

At the airport, Archbishop Elpidophoros was received by Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco, a delegation of priests and a group of young people with a large sign with the inscription “Axios”.

Archbishop Elpidophoros will be a speaker at the Youth Conference, where the Emmy award-winning actor and singer Jonathan Jackson will also speak, who has been converted to Orthodoxy with his family.

Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco had stated that “it is a great honor to have Archbishop Elpidophoros of America at our Conference, to share his vision of our Church in America with the young people”.

Metropolitan Gerasimos also said that “The children who will attend the Conference will be tomorrow’s leaders of our Archdiocese; it is a wonderful opportunity for them to receive the blessing of the Archbishop, who will also convey the greeting of the Mother Church, the Ecumenical Patriarchate”.
