The message accompanies a typical photo from the pogrom against the Greeks of Constantinople, which has gone down in history as “September events” (“Septemvriana”).

“It was 65 years ago, at night, when the pogrom against the Greek community of Istanbul started”, notes the Archbishop and adds: “We remember those whose many lives were lost, and their way of life was destroyed by a preplanned act of terror built on a lie “.
