Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana, Duress and All Albania was pronounced Honorary Senator of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, seated in Salzburg, Austria.

In a special ceremony at the University of Salzburg, the European Academy of Sciences and Arts welcomed Archbishop Anastasios with honors, as a recognition of both his scientific and social-pastoral work.

In his brief addressing, Anastasios thanked them for their confidence in him, and expressed his hopes for a better world.

The European Academy of Sciences and Arts is a nongovernmental, European institution that promotes scientific and social progress.

Founded in 1990, its aims are innovative research, interdisciplinary and transnational cooperation, as well as knowledge exchange and distribution.

Among its honorary members the following are included: Helmut Kohl (former Chancellor of Germany) Jean-Claude Juncker (President of the European Committee) Prince Philip of Belgium, Prince Jean of Luxemburg, Doris Leuthard (President of the Swiss Confederation), Dorothee Stapelfeldt (former President of the Parliament of Hamburg) etc.
