A $ 1,000,000 donation from AHEPA for the rebuilding of St. Nicholas

Archbishop Elpidophoros of America

AHEPA fully fulfilled its commitment to donate $ 1,000,000 for the reconstruction of St. Nicholas Church at Zero Point, offering the amount to Archbishop Elpidophoros of America during the official dinner at its 97th Annual Conference in Chicago.

According to the newspaper “National Herald”, the check was handed over by the outgoing AHEPA president, George E. Loucas, and the head of the Council, Nicholas A. Karacostas, who also served as the head of the Campaign of AHEPA for the rebuilding of St. Nicholas.

“Since 1922, AHEPA has been on the side of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, creating the twin pillars of Hellenism in America that we are seeing today”, said Mr. Lucas.

On his part during the event, Archbishop Elpidophoros stressed that: “My heart is filled with joy to address you on this wonderful event of the Grand Banquet of the AHEPA Supreme Convention. This is a blessed opportunity for fellowship in the bonds that we share through our faith, our legacy, and our service. It is also an opportunity to affirm the great potential we have before us. The witness that you offer as the AHEPA family is a witness of love: love for your fellow human beings, love for one another, and love for God. It is a love that comes from the unlimited love that God has shown us”.
