In his greeting, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa sent a message of the fellowship of all the peoples and world peace at the honorary citizenship ceremony, which took place on Wednesday afternoon in the Town Hall of Volos.
“Yesterday we celebrated the great feast of Ramadan. The world I live in, the Arab, has fired the cannon today which marked the beginning of Ramadan. We live together as brothers. When the bells of the Church of Saint Savvas are tolling on the feast of the Annunciation, our brothers start praying. We have to live under the same sky in solidarity, because we have to understand that we have all become a small village,” the Patriarch pointed out.
At the same time, addressing the mayor of Volos, he asked him to care for the poor people during his term.
“I will ask you to care for the poor people. These people who will never ask you for something because they have dignity. I will ask you to embrace and help these people. This will be the greatest gift you can give me is to know that you are on the side of those who are suffering,” he said.
On his part, the mayor of Volos, Achilleas Beos praised his work and his course so far, which, as he said, is full of love for the human being.
