Greek Minister of Tourism Charis Theocharis has been in Israel to participate in the 2020 IMTM International Tourism Conference.
As part of his visit, Theocharis traveled to Jerusalem, where he had a meeting with Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem. During the meeting, they discussed several issues such as the interest of Israel in closer cooperation on tourism issues, the pilgrimage tourism, the work carried out by the Patriarchate, as well as the Patriarchate’s very important efforts to preserve and promote the holy relics.
Theocharis then laid a wreath at Israel’s official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust, Yad Vashem, and emphasized that “the flame of historical memory will always remain imperishable and it is our duty to humankind to never again allow such a tragedy.”
