There has been high mobility for Hagia Sophia in Turkey today. A few hours ago, the vice chairman of Turkey’s ruling party (AKP), Numan Kurtulmuş, was asked whether Hagia Sophia could open on July 15 as a mosque, and he said: “We hope it will open sooner. I wish that. I also hope that the court will make a good decision.”
At the same time, as Skai.gr reported, the correspondent of the big pro-government newspaper Sabah, speaking on NTV, claimed that according to his own information, the court had taken a unanimous decision to open Hagia Sophia as a mosque.
No official announcement has been made yet.
So far there are two most prevalent scenarios:
1. If they decisde to open Hagia Sophia as a mosque, staff must be appointed immediately for its operation.
2. In the event that the court rejects this request then the matter may go to plenary which may be a time-consuming process.
