“Every time, especially in the current context, that Turkey ignores through its practices international law in the Eastern Mediterranean region, the EU reaffirms its full solidarity with Greece and Cyprus,” Margaritis Schoinas, Vice-President of the European Commission for protecting our European way of life, said in an interview with the Greek newspaper Real News.
“Europe, in relation to Turkish provocations and delinquency, is making crystal clear that the only way out is to respect the sovereign rights of the EU Member States,” he added.
“Europe is willing to face Turkey with a three-track approach: ‘de-escalation-dialogue-permanent solutions’,” he said. However, he stressed that if Turkey persisted in its policy of escalating tensions, “the EU would take scalable actions and would make use of all options on the table. No one should have the slightest doubt about it,” he added.
