Archbishop Makarios of Australia will pay his first official visit to the Australian capital on the first weekend of July.
As reported by sbs.com.au, the Archbishop will first visit the city of Queanbeyan where he will attend the official launch of the new charity initiative, and then he will travel to Canberra. Archbishop Makarios will visit the Church of Saint Dimitrios in Queanbeyan at 16:00 on Saturday.
He will bless and inaugurate the new charity “Soup Kitchen” that aims to provide assistance to all the members in need of the local community.
He will attend the Divine Liturgy to be held at the Church of Saint Nicholas in Canberra on Sunday, July 5. In accordance with the instructions of the government, no more than 100 people will be allowed to attend the service. For this reason, the Divine Liturgy will be live-streamed on the official Facebook page of the church.
Afterwards, a luncheon will be hosted from 11:30 until 13:30 at the “Olympus” Hall of the Hellenic Club of Canberra. The luncheon will be open to all the members of the Greek Community of Canberra with entrance fee available at hellenicclub.com.au until Tuesday, June 30. It is noted that there will be no more than 100 people in the venue due to the relevant COVID-19 restrictions.
